Position Summary:
We are searching for an experienced Senior/Principal Scientist to drive computational innovation in a well-funded biotech pioneering novel nucleic acid therapeutics. We are looking for an individual who is excited to innovate a new class of programmable medicines. This individual is expected to bring excellent scientific rigor and creativity, and a track record of using diverse computational methods to create value. This individual will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment as part of a highly collaborative and rapidly growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a leading role in advancing platform development by using computational methods to drive innovation
- Develop and perform bioinformatics analyses, such as on bulk and single-cell DNA/RNA sequencing data, or publicly available databases for sequences and biological insights of interest
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and communicate findings clearly and succinctly in oral, written, and visual formats
- Prepare written and visual materials for internal and external audiences
Work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Qualifications:
- PhD in relevant discipline (Genomics, Computational Biology, etc.) with >3 years of industry experience
- Extensive working experience with analyzing data from diverse sequencing platforms, including Illumina (bulk and single-cell), Oxford Nanopore MinION, and Sanger -
- Extensive working experience with relevant programming languages, including Linux, R, and Python
- Extensive working experience with AWS infrastructure and pipeline development methods (Docker, Snakemake, etc.)
- Strong communication, team leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Track record of working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, interacting with teams from other line functions
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, and rapidly growing biotech
