- JOB TITLE: Area Group Leader
DEPARTMENT: Lid Line, Press, Slitter, Blankers
- JOB SUMMARY:
The Area Group Leaders essential aspect of this job includes coordination and assisting the supervisor in the operation of the press/blankers/lid line and warehouse. Group Leader provides knowledge of production and warehouse skills/ techniques/ practices to team members to ensure the plant meets all operating goals through employee engagement and improving plant processes. The Group Leader is a facilitator of the work team and processes and will participate in identifying and developing processes to improve plant effectiveness and meet customer requirements. The Group Leader will promote and maintain good safety and housekeeping procedures at all times. In addition, the group leader will reflect a positive attitude and promote a harmonious work environment through good communication and team building within the plant. In the absence of the supervisor, the group leader will fill in as a temporary supervisor.
Products/Materials Produced and/or Services Provided
Manufacturing paper beverage cups and lids.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
- Walk the floor to audit for cleanliness, potential safety hazards, and General Manufacturing Process compliance. Report or correct any deficiencies.
- Meet with the shift supervisor and outgoing group leader to receive a pass down on daily plan for operation and any potential issues or concerns.
- Check the inventories of all raw materials needed for production and coordinate their timely delivery with the warehouse. Assist with physical inventories as required.
- Ensure team members are performing their jobs in accordance to department and company policies and procedures.
- Respond to any questions or concerns of production employees and bring issues and concerns to the shift supervisor’s attention.
- Assist the shift supervisor with evaluations of team members at established intervals including annual reviews and one-on-ones.
- Maintain good communications between team members, departments and management. Promoting teamwork is essential.
- Participate in identifying processes to reduce scrap, improve machine effectiveness or process flow, and improve quality.
- Promote a safe work environment and assist the supervisor in conducting safety meetings.
- With the supervisor’s approval, schedule employees for overtime in accordance
