A results‑driven Senior Manufacturing Engineer with deep expertise in designing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes in a regulated medical device environment. Skilled in developing efficient production layouts, implementing statistical process control, and driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Medtronic Performance System (MPS) methodologies. Demonstrated ability to partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Quality, R&D, Sourcing, and Packaging to support product lifecycle needs and ensure regulatory compliance. Proven track record in leading validation strategy and execution, enhancing key operational KPIs—including yield, quality, and OEE—and mentoring junior engineers to elevate technical capability across the organization. Strong proficiency in lean manufacturing, structured problem solving, and advanced manufacturing technologies, with a commitment to improving manufacturing reliability, operational excellence, and patient‑focused outcomes.

 

         

         

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

 

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Strong capability in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack‑ups, and translating complex drawings into robust manufacturing controls.
  • Hands‑on experience with laser welding, precision bonding, molding, extrusion, or micro‑machining processes commonly used in medical device manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in DOE design, multivariate analysis, and advanced SPC methods, including control chart strategy and capability studies.
  • Experience developing maintenance strategies, PFMEA updates, and reliability improvements for high‑volume production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of measurement systems analysis (MSA), metrology tools, and implementing gage calibration strategies.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom contamination control, particulate reduction methods, and environmental monitoring systems.
