JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Stuckeman School in the College of Arts and Architecture is seeking a part-time student communications intern to fill a writing intensive position for fall 2024 that will support the school’s Marketing and Communications Office. The student will be asked to work approximately 12-14 hours per week.
Responsibilities include researching and writing feature stories and news releases on school people, programs, alumni, and accomplishments, as well as crafting social media posts to promote those stories.
Evidence of equitable considerations, awareness, and practice with regard to inclusive practices in educating diverse student bodies and working with a diverse faculty, staff or work population to cultivate a culture that supports success and enables all members of a community to thrive.
The communications intern reports to the school’s Director of Marketing and Communications.
The ideal candidate should have solid writing, reporting, and interviewing skills and a strong attention to detail. Applicants must be dependable, flexible, and organized; possess solid oral communications skills; and demonstrate a strong sense of accountability. This is a paid position open to rising juniors and seniors, as well as graduate students, majoring in journalism, public relations, or related field. Applicants must have at the very least successfully completed the writing course COMM 260W. Courses in advanced writing and editing desirable.
