Overview
The Manager of Building Security reports to the Director of Building Security and is primarily responsible for the 24/7 safety and security of UBS Arena and the surrounding property. The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the arena security staff and associated equipment and technology, such as CCTV and access control.
About the Venue
UBS Arena at Belmont Park is made for music and built for hockey. New York's newest premier entertainment and sports venue and home of the New York Islanders is developed in partnership with Oak View Group, the New York Islanders, and Jeff Wilpon. The state of the art arena opened in November 2021 and has welcomed numerous top artists including Harry Styles, Sebastian Maniscalco, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, TWICE, Eagles, John Mayer, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone. The venue delivers an unmatched live entertainment experience for guests including clear sightlines and premier acoustics.
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the preparation and planning for all events at UBS Arena.
- Develop goals and objectives for the Building Security function ensuring that key objectives are met.
- Oversee a team of security supervisors and officers with a focus on management and effective allocation of staff assignments.
- Responsible for interviewing and selection of all full time and temporary staff ensuring that quality resources are employed.
- Effectively train, coach, develop, and retain talent, understanding their needs and helping them meet professional goals.
- Ensure security staff is knowledgeable of post orders, security procedures and guidelines.
- Build collaborative relationships with key contacts internally and externally to ensure smooth and effective day-to-day operations and maintain strong department, company and community relationships and reputation.
- Oversee arena CCTV and Access Control daily management, including video investigations.
- Ensure day-to-day operational activities are managed effectively and meet efficiency and customer satisfaction standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures with continuous improvement mindset.
- Prepare required daily and periodic reports regarding operational and day to day activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and follow up of all incident reporting.
- Must stay Informed of critical events and be able to adjust operating procedures accordingly.
- Ensure employees adhere to safety and health policies and procedures to protect employees against workplace hazards.
- Assist the Engineering & Maintenance Department with Fire & Life Safety procedures.
- Assist the Director of Security with the day-to-day safety and security operations of the arena, including planning, staffing, budgeting and execution.
- Comply with all UBS Arena policies and procedures. This includes safety, insurance, incident/accident reports, purchasing, HR, payroll, and accounting.
- Work with UBS Arena’s Event Services Department to ensure that each event’s building needs are met and staffed accordingly.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience relating to venue security and facility operations.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive supervisory management experience, preferably in a union environment.
- Technical knowledge in areas of Access Control and CCTV.
- Strong interpersonal skills with customer service focus.
- Skills in supervision, budget management and project management.
- Highly organized with excellent project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to lead, give clear and concise direction, and provide feedback to staff.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required
- Position will require working occasional nights and weekends.
