About the team

The Researcher Development Unit sits within the division of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Researcher Training) and designs, delivers, and communicates initiatives to build researchers’ skills and foster success at all career stages. Days and work are varied, and the team engages and collaborates widely across the University.

About the opportunity

As the Manager, HDR Development, you will lead the design and implementation of training programs for HDR students across the University to support them in their research and enable their future career success. Working closely with a diverse range of academic and professional staff you will proactively develop strategies and manage programs dedicated to enhancing HDR students’ skills and knowledge.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Associate Director, Researcher Development

  • lead the development of a strategy to foster HDR student skills and knowledge, support their research and equip them for future success

  • manage the implementation of HDR development initiatives and the creation of effective HDR learning experiences

  • drive University-wide communications and other initiatives to raise awareness of and celebrate HDR development activities

  • provide effective leadership and people management of staff in the work area

  • manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the team and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders across the University

About you

  • tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in a related field

  • demonstrated leadership experience supporting research and researchers in the higher education sector

  • ability to develop strategies and execute complex projects in the tertiary education sector

  • excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build and manage positive working relationships with a diverse range of key stakeholders

  • strong understanding of the research sector environment, culture, and research careers

  • demonstrated high level leadership and management skills, including both human resource and financial management

  • experience delivering education programs
