Posting Intro:
We are seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Chief of Staff for Global Science Engineering and Commercialization (GSEC Global Science Engineering and Commercialization (GSEC). The Chief of Staff will deliver outcomes that align with the organization’s objectives and help to manage collaborations with key partners. This role will help refine, advance, and execute the broader organizations’ strategy to deliver our business objectives for the enterprise. The candidate will work closely with the SVP of GSEC and the Leadership Team to assure execution of organization priorities in close collaboration across various functional areas across the enterprise.
Role Expectations and Responsibilities:
Enable the implementation of the strategic vision, integrating key strategy elements needed to transform the business, with ongoing project/initiative elements needed to run and improve the business.
Proactively identify, manage and execute projects of strategic importance to the GSEC Leader where applicable. Projects are often cross-functional, cross-geographical and/or cross-divisional opportunities that require coordination across multiple stakeholders.
Set clear objectives and monitor performance of GSEC, defining and leveraging metrics and KPIs to drive course correction or actions to respond.
Establish an overall communication plan for GSEC. Coordinate and manage communications, ensuring alignment across the GSEC business units, the Manufacturing Division Operating Units as well as the Manufacturing Division Division overall.
Oversee the management and coordination of key GSEC Senior Leader activities such as: Tier Reviews, Leadership Team Meetings, Strategy Reviews, Webcasts, and other activities of similar scope. Manage and optimize meeting structure, including setting agendas, coordinating meeting logistics, and ensuring efficient and productive discussions.
Support/lead content generation of internal/external presentations, as required, to further the SVP/LT strategic objectives and to run the business. Ensure presentations are aligned with strategic direction and messages of the GSEC organization, Manufacturing Division and the company.
Coordinate and participate, as requested, in site visits/functional reviews within GSEC (both in person and virtual).
Coordinate with Finance on profit plan, headcount, progress and tracking.
Drive the annual business processes to drive GSEC strategy creation, execution and monitoring aligned to business plans.
Act with a high degree of independence and authority on behalf of SVP of GSEC to facilitate productive interactions across our enterprise.
Partner and coordinate with the MLT CoS and GSEC CoS Network and leverage the network to ensure efficient execution of LT business and action items.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Science, Engineering, or related field with ten (10) years’ experience in scientific or technical roles involving biopharmaceutical / pharmaceutical commercialization or manufacturing operations
Required Skills and Experience:
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple outcome-focused initiatives simultaneously
Leadership skills – experience spanning both strategic and operational roles preferably across CMC disciplines.
Communication Skills- excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Flexibility - Ability to work in ambiguous situations, formulate a plan, focus on what matters, drive outcomes, and speak up and be open-minded.
Technical Expertise - Proven knowledge and understanding of CMC deliverables and challenges.
Strategy Realization – Demonstrated understanding and experience with the key CMC activities and work processes from which to identify strategic improvements, review with departmental leaders, and progress to implementation.
Decision making – Knowledge of practical barriers and opportunities in the organization in current business environment from which to make independent, value-adding decisions about best preparation for and utilization of Leadership Team time and full QA organization events. Demonstrated ability to use judgement and EQ to determine what decisions should be escalated to Department Leadership or HR for consideration to assure best interests of the full organization vs. succumbing to louder voices.
