Job Summary

Provides management and leadership of the Medical Staff Services Department at an Endeavor Health Hospital(s).   Supports the governance structure of the Medical Staff and the Medical Staff Officers.  Operationalizes the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations for regulatory compliance and support of care provided within the hospital(s).  Works with local Chief Medical Officer to support local administrative and governance matters of the hospital.  Executes policy and procedures as they relate to the medical staff and advanced practitioners of the Endeavor system. Works in collaboration with the Central Verification Office and the Clinical Integrated Network to assure credentialing and provider data management is best in practice for the overall system.

What you will do:

  • Manages the hospital credentialing processes for all providers who require membership and/or privileges, in accordance with TJC, CMS, NCQA, DNV, IL state and federal laws, system and local policies.

  • Manages the data integrity of the provider files and works in collaboration with the CVO to ensure that data is current, timely, and best in practice.

  • Oversees the supervision of personnel which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures, controls and problem resolution.  Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

  • Demonstrates ability to manage level of communication and diplomatic skills related to addressing confidential and sensitive physician matters

  • Supports and orients physician leadership in conducting and managing medical staff governance activities, meetings, in accordance with established Bylaws, rules and regulations, local and system policies.

  • Develops annual department budget, monitors monthly expenditures and implements corrective action when necessary to meet budget targets.

  • Acts as resource to the Chief Medical Officer, Chairman, and other clinical leaders as requested with governance matters.

  • Supports Graduate Medical Education and Emergency Room Call Schedules (facility specific) as required.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Certification: Both Certifications preferred or attained within three years of hire. National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS). CPMSM – Certified Professional in Medical Services Management. CPCS – Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist

  • Experience: 5 years of medical staff credentialing experience required, management or lead role preferred.

  • Unique or Preferred Skills:

  • Superior organizational skills and ability to multitask and excel at time management.

  • Ability to develop agenda, organize and lead a senior leadership meeting and document in minutes.

  • Ability to delegate tasks to employees effectively to optimize performance and turnaround times

  • Ability to investigate, analyze, draw conclusions, and present to leadership

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing

  • Participate in a multi-team environment and foster a positive, team approach

  • Knowledge of related accreditation and regulatory certification requirements and relation to current practice. 

  • Knowledge of provider privilege standards, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology

  • Ability to develop tools to orient and train employees and physicians.

  • Ability to participate in regulatory surveys, present items and receive feedback from surveyors

  • Ability to operationalize the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations for the medical staff and hospital leadership

Environment

  • Work on a computer 80% of time

  • Work on site at various locations, attend meetings and evening events as required.
