Overview
UW Credit Union is hiring a Deposit Services Specialist III. This is a brand-new position designed to elevate our operational excellence and member service experience. We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual who thrives in complex environments, brings deep subject matter expertise across a variety of deposit account types, and is energized by problem-solving and mentoring others.
As a Deposit Services Specialist III, you’ll be a go-to resource for escalated deposit-related inquiries, guiding peers and cross-functional teams through nuanced processes with clarity and confidence. Your ability to prioritize, adapt, and maintain high standards of accuracy and service will directly support internal operations and enhance the member experience.
As a key contributor, you’ll work closely with teams across the organization, lead process improvements, and act as a subject matter expert on important initiatives. Your technical skills, sound judgment, and ability to simplify complex topics will make you a trusted resource. You’ll help train and mentor others, support vendor relationships, and bring energy and focus to a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Systems and Process Support – 70%
- Provide expert guidance on business and system changes by leveraging deep product knowledge and understanding of compliance requirements.
- Lead testing, troubleshooting, and tax reporting efforts, including core system releases, year-end processes, and escheatment.
- Drive process improvements and procedural enhancements in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- Develop and maintain training materials to support onboarding, staff development, and overall team readiness.
Deposit Transaction Processing and Support – 10%
- Manage and process complex account requests, including closures, adjustments, legal orders, and specialized account types such as IRAs, trusts, and decedent accounts.
- Resolve member inquiries and escalations with a strong focus on risk assessment, compliance, and service excellence.
- Collaborate across teams to identify and correct errors, ensure regulatory adherence, and support continuous process improvement.
Excellence in Service Delivery – 10%
- Deliver exceptional service by directly supporting members and empowering staff with expert guidance on deposit-related products and services.
- Identify and enhance cross-functional processes and technology touchpoints to streamline workflows and elevate the overall member experience.
Champion Engagement and Continuous Learning and Development – 10%
- Take ownership of personal and professional growth through training, feedback, mentorship, and active participation in team initiatives.
- Build and maintain deep expertise in Deposit Services operations, products, systems, and fiduciary account types, while understanding their intersection with Membership Services.
- Embrace innovation and change, contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture, and serve as a mentor and role model to support team and organizational success.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- 4+ years of Deposit Services experience in a financial institution.
- IRA Certification: have or obtain within 12 months of employment.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, deliver excellent customer service, and communicate complex information in a clear and approachable way.
