The Advancement Strategies and Technology Innovation (ASTI) department is focused on finding the solutions for foundational issues that will best position UO Advancement to achieve its goals around engagement and fundraising.
Prospect Development is responsible for the implementation of the prospect management system and for the identification of prospects, strategic prospect review, and providing intelligence to aid development officers in fundraising to their highest capacity. This department's work is critical to the future success of fundraising at the University of Oregon and the Development initiative to identify the next generation of philanthropic leaders. Prospect Development collaborates with each development team and the department as a whole to promote a systematic and quantifiable framework through which development staff manage relationships and analyze and identify prospects and related strategies.
Position Summary
The Principal Prospect Analyst partners closely with Advancement leadership and Development staff who are engaging principal and leadership gift prospects with a focus on donor and prospect pipeline management.
The primary responsibilities of this position are principal gift donor identification, portfolio strategy and management, tactical prospect research, making recommendations regarding principal prospect solicitations, and strategizing and coordinating with team members across the institution to gather and analyze information to assess long-term philanthropic potential and influence strategic engagement with UO’s VIP supporters.
This position collaborates with and makes recommendations to leadership and frontline fundraisers regarding prospective donors’ ability to give gifts of $1 million+ and potential programmatic or initiative-based philanthropic interests. Reporting to the Director, Prospect Development, the Principal Prospect Analyst serves as an internal consultant and subject matter expert on principal giving, demonstrating an understanding of the University of Oregon’s mission, programs, and key priority areas requiring current support. They serve as project leads on principal and leadership gift identification projects, monitoring and reviewing work, deliverables, and outcomes. They provide guidance to research analysts who may participate in this work, reporting out to the Director and Associate Director of Prospect Development, and to Advancement and Development leadership, as needed.
This position is also responsible for the analysis of the overall principal gift pipeline and development officer (DO) portfolios for effectiveness and opportunity. They recommend prospects for portfolios and assist in the creation of thoughtful and sophisticated strategies to engage prospects who are likely to become Principal Gift-level donors in the near future or over the course of a lifelong relationship with UO. The analyst evaluates the overall pool of leadership and principal gift prospects, the success of identification efforts, and the ultimate movement through the solicitation pipeline.
