Sales Technical Writer - RFP & SLED

Position Overview 

As the Sales Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating compelling responses for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and State, Local, and Education (SLED) sector opportunities.  

This role combines technical writing expertise with sales acumen to produce winning proposals. 

Specific Job Responsibilities 

• Lead and manage the RFP response process 
• Develop and manage proposal timelines and production schedules 
• RFP and Proposal Development:  

• • Analyze RFP requirements and develop comprehensive response strategies via kickoff meetings, strategy sessions, and feedback from SMEs. 
  • Write, edit, and format proposal sections, including executive summaries, technical approaches, and work with the SME on pricing narratives 
  • Ensure all proposal elements align with client needs and evaluation criteria 

• SLED Sector Specialization:  

• • Develop in-depth knowledge of State, Local, and Education sector priorities and challenges 
  • Tailor proposals to address specific SLED requirements and pain points 
  • Stay updated on SLED procurement trends and regulations 

• Collaborate with sales, product, and marketing experts to gather accurate information   
• Translate complex technical information into clear, client-focused content  
• Ensure proposal compliance with all RFP requirements and guidelines 
• Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and formatting across all documents 
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines  
• Maintain a library of reusable content and best practices 
• Track proposal metrics such as win rates, turnaround times, and team productivity 
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in proposal development 
• Stay informed regarding emerging cyber threats that may be directed at this role 
• Implement outstanding cybersecurity practices 

 Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or related field 
• 2+ years of proven experience in technical writing, preferably in a sales or proposal environment  
• Strong understanding of RFP processes and SLED sector needs 
• Exemplary communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and time management skills  
• Display an aptitude for technology  
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills  
• Ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences  
• Proficiency in proposal software and Microsoft Office suite
