Specialist, Health Staff Recruitment

The Specialist, Health Staff Recruitment reports to the Sr. Manager, Health Staff Administration and is responsible for coordinating and supporting recruitment activities for qualified health staff deployed across the North American brands of Carnival Corporation.  The role supports fleet operational readiness by maintaining recruitment workflows, applicant tracking, and candidate progression aligned with established staffing matrices and safe manning requirements. 

Key responsibilities include coordinating recruitment workflows, ensuring effective applicant tracking, facilitating timely candidate communication. The Specialist reviews documentation to confirm alignment with required credentials, licenses, and experience prior to leadership review and supports the administrative components of the onboarding process to ensure an efficient transition of approved hires.

The Specialist also contributes to talent attraction efforts by supporting the development and execution of digital marketing and social media activities, assisting with multiplatform campaigns, and coordinating the department’s presence at trade shows and related recruitment channels. By preparing engaging content and monitoring marketing data under direction from management, the role helps improve candidate engagement and strengthen the medical talent pipeline. 

Collaboration is essential, and the Specialist works closely with brand representatives, shipboard medical teams, shoreside health services, public health leaders, and external vendors. The role supports operations across four North American brands, encompassing more than 65 ships, 10 million annual guests, and over 100,000 team members. 

Essential Functions:

HEALTH STAFF RECRUITMENT: 

• Coordinates recruitment activities for global health roles—including doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical support staff, and public health officers—ensuring processes are followed and timelines are met. • Collects, analyzes, and prepares recruitment, staffing, and onboarding data for review by the Sr. Manager and leadership teams.   

• Supports routine reporting by maintaining accurate and timely datasets.

• Tracks candidates through the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and helps ensure accuracy of information in coordination with recruiters and hiring managers 

• Coordinates with talent acquisition partners by reconciling candidate progress, flagging delays, and following up on missing items to support timely hiring decisions. 

• Supports applicant evaluations by ensuring application files are complete, routing candidates to the appropriate hiring managers, and preparing materials needed for review 

• Facilitates interview logistics, including scheduling, gathering behavioral and technical interview reports, and preparing prescreening summaries for leadership review. 

• Conducts preliminary reference checks and verification steps, escalating discrepancies as needed to the Sr. Manager. 

• Communicates with candidates by providing status updates, requesting required documents, and addressing process related questions regarding the selection process, job offers, and onboarding. 

• Prepares and extends job offers under guidance provided by the Sr. Manager and tracks candidate responses. 

• Engages new hires in onboarding, by guiding them through ATS workflows, confirming all onboarding steps are initiated, and the appropriate onboarding agent or Global Talent Partner. 

• Monitors shared inboxes to ensure timely responses to candidates, talent partners, and collaborating teams, escalating urgent issues when required.
