About the role

Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Dentistry at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position with a 11-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending on qualifications. Hiring a translational researcher with a background in pain, neuroimmune, and/or neuropharmacology research. 

·       Research:

o   Design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to pain, clinical translation, and therapeutics.

o   Develop and implement research protocols.

o   Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding for research projects.

o   Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

o   Present research at national and international conferences.

o   Collaborate with other researchers and institutions to enhance research outcomes.

o   Supervise and mentor graduate students and research staff.

·       Teaching:

o   Teach neuroscience and pharmacology in the core BMS dental student courses.

o   Teach and develop curriculum for undergraduate and/or graduate courses related to the field of study.

o   Provide academic advising and support to students (undergraduate, graduate, dental, residents).

·       Service:

o   Participate in departmental and university service activities.

o   Participate in professional organizations (e.g., editor of journal)

o   Participate in national/international committees (e.g., NIH study section)

Qualifications

  • Required: Ph.D., M.D., D.D.S., Pharm.D., or equivalent in neuroscience, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, or related field.

  • Preferred: Demonstrated expertise in pain research, neuroscience, or translational science; Record of peer-reviewed publications and strong potential for (Assistant) or evidence of (Associate) extramural funding; Ability to develop an independent, externally funded research program and collaborate across disciplines; Commitment to teaching and mentoring in neuroscience/pharmacology and related areas.
