The Senior Registration and Records Specialist for Degree Management and Athletic Eligibility:

(35%) Collaborates to manage the Academic Eligibility process for the University and certification process for beginning and end of term academic eligibility for all student athletes at Ohio State; partners with the Athletic Department Compliance Office, Student Athlete Support Services Office, academic program offices, the faculty representative to the Big 10 and other personnel in the Office of Undergraduate Education; manages the communication and resolution of inquiries about rules/regulations on athletic academic eligibility; makes recommendations to the University President, Registrar and other senior leaders on rules interpretation; communicates changes and improvements; compiles and reports student athlete academic status and progress; manages the student-athlete academic eligibility activities; maintains working knowledge of Big Ten/NCAA/University rules and college curricula; determines student-athlete eligibility per requirements; monitors compliance; monitors changes/adjustments and impact on student eligibility reporting; manages the verification process to ensure submitted reports are accurate to avoid penalties sanctioned by NCAA

(20%) Assists with compiling, maintaining and updating the official Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) reports for the Registrar to ensure that the university remains in compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); supports monthly and annual sub-committee meetings on athletic eligibility certification; serves on university-level compliance review committee; provides feedback on updates to the written procedural athletic academic eligibility documentation; communicates new procedures to staff and other appropriate audiences; supports the training for all college athletic eligibility contacts on campus, trains new employees

(20%) Interacts and communicates with college/departmental curricular staff and/or advisors to verify program requirements, (university, college, major, minor, etc.); understand the relationship between various curricular requirements: e.g. general education, majors, minors, program prerequisites, etc., build, update, troubleshoot issues, and post exceptions for degree audit functionality; verify/interpret program requirements in order to build/update degree plans; create and update curricular requirements in the degree management system to include required hours, courses, and grades, course relationships, and academic policies

(20%) Assist with training opportunities of college staff (faculty and advisors) to use the degree management system, including understanding the information presented, how to interpret and accurately apply requirements, posting exceptions to degree audit requirements, curriculum and other relationships; problem solve issues in the degree management system; assist users in posting exceptions; provide reports; develop user documentation outlining degree management encoding requirements and exception posting; supports the University Registrar, Associate Registrars, Assistant Registrars and other areas within the University Registrar’s office as needed.

Required: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; 4 years
