Summary:

The Corporate Project Manager of Sterile Processing shall act as the expert resource to the Director/Manager of Surgical Services and Sterile Processing for hospitals. Will work collaboratively to identify, assess and implement regional and corporate performance improvement strategies. Continually assess the efficacy, safety, quality and cost of patient care in accordance with organizational, professional and regulatory standards and includes benchmarking. This person will also provide expertise and be a mentor to new managers/directors or those needing assistance in enhancing department performance. This position reports to the Corporate Director of Sterile Processing. All duties will be fulfilled consistent with the mission of CHSPSC, LLC.


Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating and supporting the Sterile Processing performance improvement program in hospitals.
  • Working with the hospital's sterile processing department to ensure the instrumentation used for surgery and procedure areas are processed, stored, and delivered in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assuming responsibility for the consultative development and implementation of programs and clinical initiatives, while assisting in evaluation of program processes at a hospital.
  • Providing on-site consultative services or programs in the sterile processing department. Evaluating the methods and work performance standards for preparing and handling sterile instruments and supplies meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Observing departmental compliance regarding sterilization methods in accordance with all regulatory requirements including, but not limited to Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), The Joint Commission, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and American Society for Healthcare Central Service Personnel (ASHCSP) and Society of Gastroenterology (SGNA) standards.
  • Serving as mentor and expert resource person for Sterile Processing in the hospitals. Observing the operations of decontamination, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of instruments or equipment using tracer methodology.
  • Observing professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the personal, financial and medical or employment status of patients and staff of CHSPSC, LLC.
  • Developing collaborative relationships with corporate and hospital personnel, staff and physicians, to ensure a continued focus and improved operations.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and developing others in a variety of key skills including: relationship management, project management, staffing and execution.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:
    • Minimum of ten years of experience in Sterile Process and Surgery.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in management and administration in a multiple specialty hospital.
  • Certificates and Licenses:
    • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
    • Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) or Management in Sterile Processing (CSPM)
    • Member of Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent technical, management, operational and clinical knowledge of sterile processing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, presentation and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate experience and the ability to manage multiple groups, interact productively with varying levels of personnel and staff, and provide program direction and development.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and resolve conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities; flexibility to accept and manage change.
  • Identify educational needs and provide educational support, as appropriate for each facility.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google
