Pre-Award Administrator (Central Office)

What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Pre-Award Administrator to support the mission of the university through the preparation and submission of grant proposals, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines and institutional policies. This position will serve as a grants resource to university departments and faculty. 

An Associate’s degree and three years of relevant work experience are required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. 

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. 

This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work.

What You Will Do

• Ensure provision of excellent customer service to faculty, local research administrators, and sponsors in the ongoing administration of sponsored research by serving as an expert resource to the Baylor research community
• Manage Pre-Award activities for an assigned portfolio using knowledge of grant and contract management rules and regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills
• Support all relevant activities in the Pre-Award Office, including proposal review and submission, award negotiation and acceptance, contract review and negotiation, subrecipient review and monitoring, award modification negotiation and acceptance, Just-in-Time (JIT) submission, and submission of programmatic reporting
• Review all proposal submissions and award terms and conditions on behalf of the Authorized Institutional Signing Official to confirm they are in accordance with federal and state regulations and guidelines, including federal OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), sponsor specific, and Baylor policies
• Maintain auditable records for sponsored awards, including proposal and award documents and internal and sponsor correspondences
• Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities, as determined by the AVP for Research, Pre-Award
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
• Ability to comply with university policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $60,000 - $75,000. The full salary range for this position classification is $51,569.56 - $85,089.77

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certification, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
