The Center on Violence and Recovery (CVR) is dedicated to advancing knowledge on the causes and consequences of violence and trauma, and developing solutions that foster healing among individuals, families, and communities. We innovate by developing cutting-edge solutions to promote healing and transformation, study by conducting research on critical issues related to trauma and restoration, and educate by offering trainings, workshops, and lectures on topics related to trauma and healing.
CVR is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Assistant Research Scientist/Project Coordinator to support a national, multi-site evaluation funded by the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). The evaluation focuses on OVW’s Restorative Practices Pilot Program (RPPP) initiative, which explores innovative, community-based responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse, and stalking. CVR is leading a national multidisciplinary research team responsible for generating actionable insights for practitioners, policymakers, and scholars on how restorative practices can promote victim well-being, harm-doer accountability, and community safety.
The Assistant Research Scientist/Project Coordinator will manage and support the research activities for the RPPP evaluation ensuring standardized data collection, site communication, regulatory compliance, and reporting across all participating sites. In this role, the Project Coordinator will work closely with the Lead Principal Investigator (CVR Co-Executive Director and Chief Research Officer), Project Director (CVR Director of Operations, Research and Evaluation), and other members of the research team including Co-Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, Consultants, and Graduate Research Assistants. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring successful planning, implementation, and dissemination of research and evaluation activities, including coordinating day-to-day operations of the evaluation project; ensuring compliance with ethical standards; assisting in the development of research protocols, IRB submissions, and grant reporting; overseeing data collection, management, and quality control processes; ensuring compliance with project requirements; and serving as a central point of contact for all project-related activities. The role will include close cooperation with the eleven restorative practices pilot program sites participating in the multi-site evaluation.
This role requires a strong collaborator who thrives in dynamic, mission-focused environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, flexible, and resourceful, with a passion for research, evaluation, and approaches to preventing and responding to violence. Prior experience with federally funded research projects, particularly in the areas of criminal justice, social work, or public health, is a plus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Data Collection & Management (30%)
● Develop and maintain data management systems.
● Coordinate data collection activities across pilot sites, including recruitment, obtaining consent, scheduling interviews, focus groups, and surveys with staff and program participants.
● Assist in the development of research and evaluation protocols and IRB submissions.
● Serve as a primary contact for pilot site evaluation liaisons, providing ongoing logistical support and troubleshooting evaluation-related needs.
● Manage study participant stipend distribution, including procurement, delivery, and reconciliation of gift cards or other incentives.
● Monitor and organize secure storage of evaluation data (e.g., transcripts, survey responses) across the evaluation team ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protocols.
● Assist with data entry, coding, cleaning, and analysis including aggregating data from multiple sites for preliminary and final analysis.
● Prepare data to be deposited in a data repository.
Monitoring & Reporting (30%)
● Monitor project timeline to ensure milestones and deliverables are met. Support the development of internal and funder-facing reports by tracking milestones, documenting study progress, and highlighting key updates.
● Maintain organized evaluation project documentation (e.g., meeting notes, contracts, protocols) and ensure accessibility via shared platforms.
● Assist the Lead Principal Investigator and Project Director in tracking budgets and expenses to support accurate reporting and compliance with grant requirements.
