About the role

Job Description

The Office of the Bronx Borough President (Bronx BP) seeks a qualified and motivated Assistant General Counsel (AGC) to support the General Counsel’s office. This role provides critical legal, training, and compliance support to ensure the effective operation of the agency and its programs.

Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will:

- Provide legal support on compliance, employment law, procurement, and general agency operations.

- Draft and review contracts, policies, memoranda, and other legal documents.

- Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses on complex legal issues.

- Assist in developing and implementing agency-wide training and compliance programs.

- Support the agency’s FOIL (Freedom of Information Law), EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity), and ACCO (Agency Chief Contracting Officer) functions.

- Represent the agency at meetings, hearings, and on official boards and committees.

- Deliver trainings and presentations on legal and policy matters.

- Collaborate with City, State, and external regulatory bodies as needed.

Qualifications

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.

Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
