About the Role:
The Specialty Per-Diem Assistant supports the hospital by facilitating efficient patient care for the animals in their assigned department. Prepare and transport patients for a variety of imaging, surgical, and diagnostic procedures. Communicates with Technicians and DVMs with timelines and scheduling of procedures and appointments for their patients.

About the Role:
The Specialty Per-Diem Assistant supports the hospital by facilitating efficient patient care for the animals in their assigned department. Prepare and transport patients for a variety of imaging, surgical, and diagnostic procedures. Communicates with Technicians and DVMs with timelines and scheduling of procedures and appointments for their patients.
Compensation:
- $18 - $22 depending on experience
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Handles and restrains animals during procedures and physical exams
- Assist technicians in obtaining patient vitals.Ā
- Assist credential technicians with the induction of anesthesia/sedation
- Prepares, shaves and transports patients for imaging procedures
- Positions animals appropriately for diagnostic imaging
- Sets up for and assists during diagnostic procedures
- Perform in-house diagnostics such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Completes various documentation and record keeping and tasks in various imaging, PIMS, and whiteboard systems.
- Communicates with departments on the status and timing of their patient receiving imaging.
- Stocking and cleaning of common areas
- Clean and care for hospital equipment
- Assists other departments as needed and during downtime.
- Other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is preferred for this role!
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
- Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs
- Experience in a emergency/specialty setting
- Knowledge of EasyVet or similar medical record systems.
