About the role

The Amazon Global Communities Events team is seeking an experienced Principal Event Manager to lead one of our biggest proprietary events and support other events by owning key work streams for the team. Your responsibility as an event expert will include developing event and creative strategy, building communication plans, and act as the single threaded leader for all event components. You will define the goals of program work streams, build your core working team, manage budget and timelines, and oversee a variety of vendor and venue partners to ensure all stakeholders are working together to deliver a high-quality experience. You will also utilize exceptional communication skills to write strategic attendee journey docs, manage executive leadership reviews, remove roadblocks for your event teams and lead the writing of post event debriefs.

The ideal candidate has a proven history of leading complex, large scale events with operational excellence across all program components. This candidate must be strategic, creative, able to lead internal and external teams, flourish in a fast-paced environment, and understand how to execute effectively and flexibly. The successful candidate will possess the ability to influence stakeholders, complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, and take effective action without having to know the complete picture. This person will be able to effectively work within a small team, both knowing when to delegate and also rolling up their sleeves and getting stuff done when needed – no detail will be too small and they'll never say "that's not my job".
