Digital SmartFarm Intern - Idaho Falls, ID

Summary

This role will work in the Idaho Falls area, under the direction of Senior Digital Sales Advisor who leads technical support and digital sales for the integration of the company’s digital platform. The intern will gain valuable experience in managing soil moisture, working with growers & crop advisors, and assisting in other precision agricultural projects being worked on over the summer.

 

Much of the intern's work will be accomplished in hot, humid, and dusty outdoor agricultural environments. Day travel to field locations will be required most days of the week, time will be allocated to accomplish computer work in an office if needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Understanding the products and services provided by our digital team.
• Communication and interaction with customers & crop advisors on water management, scouting, and other areas as needed.
• As appropriate for the business: Installing moisture monitors, soil sampling, tissue sampling, scouting, GIS programs, and equipment maintenance.
• Assisting experienced digital sales advisors/crop advisors/operations with crop activities which would include computer/app input of sampling, moisture monitoring data, and trials.
• Participation in educational opportunities as identified and assigned by management.

Typical Education

Junior or Senior at a College or University majoring in an agricultural field

Relevant Experience

• Experience in the agricultural industry
• Precision Ag experience
• Experience in field scouting
• Experience in permanent crops

Required Certifications

Must have a valid Driver's License

Other Information

• Ability to operate 4-wheel drive and/or ATV vehicles off road or on farm roads.
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in MS Office programs.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to work with others and to accomplish objectives.
• Proven ability to be given tasks and the drive to accomplish the tasks without much supervision
• Strong organizational skills to track and catalog information
