The Counseling Program is situated within the School of Human Services in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, (CECH). The School of Human Services also includes undergraduate and graduate programs in Behavior Analysis, School Psychology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Education, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Sport Administration. The School of Human Services is a leader in online course and program development, and there are many active collaborative activities across programs and with community partners. Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in School Counseling.

Essential Functions

• Conducting scholarly research in the area of School Counseling, publishing research, presenting research at conferences, and obtaining external funding (e.g., grant writing)
• Teaching graduate (master’s and doctoral) coursework in School counseling and the counseling core (e.g., ethics, theories, etc.), which will typically include two classes per semester
• Supervising student field experiences aligned with the Counseling Program's ecological model
• and wellness-oriented approach to practice
• Advising graduate students, guiding dissertation research, and serving on doctoral committees
• Collaborating with area partners, behavioral health agencies, and integrated practices to support student field experiences and for research
• Providing leadership and coordination within the School Counseling track with responsibilities including but not limited to coordinating student support efforts, admissions, and program reporting for accreditation
• Engaging in university, professional, and community service, including but not limited to serving on search committees, scholarship review committees, reappointment, promotion, and tenure review committees, peer reviewing for journals, service on work groups of professional organizations

Minimum Requirements

Prior to date of appointment, all of the following:

 

• Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.)  in Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program.
• Evidence of a program of scholarly research in counseling as demonstrated by one peer- reviewed publication as well as one other work in progress.
• Experience teaching one course in general counseling or within the School Counseling
• specialty as either a lead instructor or teaching assistant.
• Two years (24 months) of professional work experience as a therapist or psychotherapist implementing evidence-based practice in School Counseling.
