Associate Principal Scientist, In Vivo Immuno Oncology Discovery

Are you an innovative and highly motivated Scientist with a background in immunology or a related field? Do you have a passion for developing new mouse models to test various IO molecules? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Early Discovery Oncology Bioscience team in Gaithersburg, MD. As part of our team, you will lead a group of in vivo scientists and be responsible for creating new mouse models or improving existing ones to interrogate the biology of immunomodulatory targets or target pathways. Accountabilities:
In this laboratory-based position within Oncology Research, you will develop, design, conduct and analyze both in vivo and in vitro experiments to assess the function of our candidate oncology drugs and dissect the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapeutics. You will support cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with project leaders to ensure the timely generation, and dissemination of critical program data, and contribute to scientific publication goals. As a highly organized, self-motivated individual with a strong background in laboratory science, you will stay up to date with relevant technical and intellectual scientific expertise in tumor biology, pharmacology and cancer modelling.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- PhD in a biological science with 2-5 years of post-PhD research experience in industry or academia.
- Excellent scientific communication skills including both abilities to write reports (e.g. regulatory documents, project licenses, and manuscripts) and give oral presentations to broad and diverse audiences.
- Line management experience.
- General knowledge of biologics drug development.
- Experience across multiple platforms to develop and analyze PD biomarker endpoints in tumors and tissues.
- Design and implementation of multi-parameter flow cytometry.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills together with evidence of delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Industry experience is preferred but exceptional candidates with substantial & relevant academic experience will be considered.
