Job Description Summary:

This position provides medical forensic exams to victims of intentional and/or interpersonal violence (sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking).  He/She is accountable for the practice of forensic nursing as defined by state and national guidelines, the Ohio Revised Code, and the International Association of Forensic Nursing (IAFN). They respond to consults needed at Marion General, Mansfield Hospital, Grady Memorial, Lewis Center FSED, Hardin Memorial, Shelby Hospital, Ashland FSED, Ontario Hospital and Morrow County Hospital

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

This position requires a current registered nurse license from the State of Ohio. Must complete a 40+ hour didactic training, perform speculum exams under the direct supervision of a physician/ NP/PA until competent and complete 3 sexual assault exams with an experienced forensic nurse either on a patient or in a simulation environment.

Must commit to being on call a minimum of 48 hours per month for their assigned area, attend bi-monthly meetings, as well as attend continuing educational opportunities.

Must be willing to commit to providing 2 years of service as a forensic nurse after training has been completed.
