Software Engineer - Enterprise Linux Workstation (Brno Office, Czech Republic)

Red Hat is a rapidly growing company supporting more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies</p><p></p><p><b>Job Summary</b></p><p>Red Hat’s is looking for an experienced software engineer to help us develop and maintain our Enterprise Linux Workstation product. In this role, you will work on developing new features for our Workstation Product and solve customer issues. As part of these responsibilities, you will need to adhere to coding best practices and standards, including well-documented scalable and efficient code; practicing test-driven development by building and implementing automated tests, maintaining updated code documentation and comments, following security best practices; participating in code reviews and other peer review, and staying up-to-date with software engineering technologies, frameworks, and methodologies. Qualified software engineers in this role regularly participate in design reviews, automated testing, and productization for major product features and bug fixes.</p><p></p><p>The ideal candidate will have experience with Flatpak and also some experience with developing and maintaining server side backends for building and deploying software.</p><p></p><p>You will be part of a highly-collaborative team with a passion for analyzing and solving complex problems, and reaching across team and project boundaries to find solutions. You will be interacting with Support Engineers, Product Managers, UI Designers, Customers and upstream communities.</p><p>This position will be part of  the Display Systems Engineering team. Your continuous growth will be ensured by extensive learning opportunities, including Red Hat Learning modules and certifications as well as Red Hat University (RHU) courses.</p><p></p><p><b>What you will do:</b></p><ul><li>Participating in the design and implementation of features of the GNOME desktop and related remote services.</li><li>Help create and maintain next-generation application build and delivery pipelines for desktop applications.</li><li>Take part in the shared responsibility of delivering and maintaining our product</li><li>Contribute to the development of the open-source projects that are part of Red Hat Enterprise Workstation</li><li>Regularly communicate with project stakeholders including other teams of Red Hat engineers, product managers, consultants, management, and senior leadership</li><li>Write high-quality, maintainable Python, C, and Rust code</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What you will bring:</b></p><ul><li>2+ years of experience as a software developer, software engineer, or similar roles</li><li>Passion, curiosity, and desire to create new things and examine how things work internally</li><li>Ability to proactively add new features, debug, identify, and track issues</li><li>Experience developing in some combination of Python, C, C++, and Rust</li><li>Experience developing unit and integration tests for your code</li><li>Excellent system understanding and troubleshooting capabilities</li><li>Ability to work on your own in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively in English</li><li>Understanding of how Open Source and Free Software communities work</li><li>Ability to quickly learn and use new tools and technologies and proactively</li><li>Work as a part of a wider team</li></ul><p></p><p><b>The following are considered a plus:</b></p><ul><li>Familiarity with other languages that are frequently used in desktop and infrastructure components, such as Golang, Rust, or Javascript</li><li>Solid experience with source code management tools such as Git</li><li>Experience with creating graphical user interfaces</li><li>Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes or Openshift</li><li>Experience in creating and maintaining server-side infrastructure components</li><li>Experience with creating and maintaining build pipelines</li><li>Familiarity with flatpak and application sandboxing</li><li>Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or other related discipline</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>About Red Hat</b></p><
