What You Will Do:
Employ strong technical skills and a business mindset to swiftly identify opportunities and risk and generate creative solutions to business problems. Plan multiple data projects, leveraging large volumes of data across sources in a variety of forms, and building analytics models and data visualization tools. Utilize strong problem-solving skills and aptitude for statistical analysis and the align data products with project and client objectives. Communicate effectively to convey technical information to technical clients and appropriately present technical solutions to non-technical audiences, including leadership. Lead the development of data solutions by:
Formulating, suggesting, and managing data-driven projects and metrics.
Gathering requirements and creating and managing data-driven performance indicators.
Developing new prototypes for leveraging the bureau’s vast collection of data in the database.
Collaborating with various technical and non-technical clients to enable development and deployment of dashboards and technologies that will scale across the project’s data stack.
Building and maintaining an analytics infrastructure to be used across the bureau.
Teaching, leading, and counseling non-technical individuals on data solutions.
What You Will Need:
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in S.T.E.M field
THREE or more (3) years of experience in data analytics, data science, or data visualization.
Experience in connecting to data sources and building dashboards using Power BI.
Experience in automating data analytics and other business processes using Power Automate.
Ability to work on client site in Washington D.C. at least4 days per week and support future projects that are on-site or hybrid in the DC metro area or remote as needed.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
FIVE (5) or more years of relevant professional experience in data analytics, data science, data visualization.
Strong understanding of statistics and statistical methods and principles.
Ability to understand client mission, business processes, and data nuances and adapt data science solutions accordingly.
Ability to identify and define appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) for business needs.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate and present technical solutions, insights, and results to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership, and discuss how they can be used to inform business decisions.
Ability to be a self-starter and self-manager, meet with clients to gather requirements, and proactively follow through to push initiatives forward, integrating collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders.
Ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
Proficiency in querying and wrangling data using SQL.
Proficiency in connecting data sources and wrangling and analyzing data using Python.
Experience performing analytics and data engineering in a cloud environment, such as Azure or AWS.
Relevant experience supporting Department of State or other Federal Government organizations.
