c£32,000 + fully expensed car & 10% allowance

As demand for high‑confidence measurement continues to grow, Renishaw is expanding its calibration and verification capability to ensure customers achieve peak performance from their CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machines) and Equator‑X systems.

This will be a key, customer‑facing role at the heart of this mission. Primarily field‑based, you will work hands‑on at customer sites across the UK — with occasional international travel — carrying out service, maintenance, calibration, and verification on a range of metrology equipment.

In this role, you will ensure systems operate to the highest standards, meeting ISO 10360‑2/5 requirements and directly supporting Renishaw’s global reputation for metrology excellence, accuracy, and trust. Your work will have a visible impact on customer confidence, product quality, and manufacturing performance.

Renishaw will provide comprehensive training and structured on‑the‑job development, enabling you to build the skills and confidence required to work independently in the field. As your experience grows, there is clear potential for progression within the team, offering long‑term career development within a world‑leading engineering organisation.

  • Set up, stabilise, and measure with calibrated artefacts (gauge blocks, step gauges, spheres, temperature sensors) in accordance with company processes.

  • Prepare and apply calibration labels, certificates, and documentation to customer equipment.

  • Conduct performance analysis, including error mapping using laser interferometers (XL‑80 / XM600).

  • Diagnose causes of verification failures and advise customers on corrective actions.

  • Support installation and commissioning teams where calibration expertise is required (e.g., post‑retrofit verification).

  • Maintain accurate calibration records, equipment logs and follow company calibration database processes.

Customer Interaction & Support

  • Provide expert guidance on calibration standards, measurement uncertainty, and machine performance.

  • Communicate test results clearly, ensuring customers understand compliance status and any follow‑up recommendations.

  • Deliver on‑site user guidance on maintaining machine performance and environmental best practices.

  • Represent Renishaw professionally, building strong customer relationships and trust.

Continuous Improvement & Feedback

  • Supply feedback to engineering, metrology and R&D teams regarding recurring calibration issues or product improvements.

  • Assist in refining calibration procedures, internal best practice, and customer documentation.

  • Contribute to raising global calibration standardisation across the service network.

Key Requirements

  • HNC Mechanical Engineering, Metrology, Mechatronics or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a customer facing, field based role.

  • Excellent customer‑facing communication and professionalism

  • Methodical, detail‑driven mindset with  analytical skills.

  • Capable of working independently on customer sites with minimal supervision.

  • Strong ownership and reliability in delivering high‑quality calibration outcomes.

Additional Requirements

  • UK driving licence.

  • Willingness and availability for frequent travel with overnight stays during the week, including occasional overseas assignments.

  • Ability to work in controlled environments and follow strict calibration procedures.

Desirable Experience but not essential

  • Proven experience in calibration, metrology, CMM verification, or precision engineering.

  • Background in high‑precision industries (aerospace, automotive, medical, advanced manufacturing).

  • Understanding of measurement principles, uncertainty, and traceability.

  • Experience with Renishaw CMM technologies including Equator‑X, REVO‑2, UCCServer, and calibration databases (e.g., QC Gages).

  • Ability to interpret calibration certificates, metrology reports, and technical drawings.
