As a Senior Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Providing design of mechanical systems including HVAC, building automation, industrial ventilation, process piping, plumbing systems, and central utilities for 3M facilities and processes
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team to influence and develop scope in early stages of the project
- Developing and managing timelines and budgets for assigned projects
- Successfully interacting with multi-disciplinary teams including 3M plant personnel, consultants, suppliers, and vendors
- Communicating effectively to project team, facility staff, and project owners
- Ensuring application of applicable codes, standards, and internal guidelines
- Overseeing and guiding the design work by consultants for assigned projects
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution, AND Minimum of Four (4) years of experience in Mechanical Engineering related design and construction to support industrial facilities and processes in a private, public, government or military environment
OR
- 2 year technical degree/certificate in Facilities Mechanical Engineering related field, AND Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience in Mechanical Engineering related design and construction to support industrial facilities and processes in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- 6+ years’ experience in mechanical system design to support industrial facilities and processes including HVAC, building automation systems, process piping, plumbing, and utility systems
- Registered as a Professional Engineer
- Proficient in use of project management skills for developing timelines, budgets, and coordination of activities
- Proficient communication and documentation skills
- Proficient at using electronic tools for design, documentation, and communication
- Team player with the ability to contribute to a matrix environment
Work location:
- On-site at 3M Center in St.Paul, MN
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic
