Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Ethics and Compliance, the Corporate Compliance Manager will be responsible for supporting the build-out and ongoing administration of Brightspeed’s Compliance Management Program and culture of compliance. You will be responsible for analyzing internal business systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations and ethical standards; creating, modifying, updating, and implementing the company’s policies and procedures; and supporting the development of risk management strategies, control systems and ongoing training programs for employees of the business. In this role, you are also responsible for conducting and supporting sensitive investigations involving compliance and other matters. You will work closely with other departments to ensure that the business operates in a fully compliant manner and maintains a positive reputation with internal clients, customers, regulators, and other stakeholders. You will be highly organized, detail-orientated, and able to understand and communicate complex compliance models and legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
As the Corporate Compliance Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Support the development of Brightspeed’s overall compliance program, including compliance-related policies and procedures, ethics and compliance training, and risk management/risk assessment
- Assist with the identification, assessment, and communication of compliance program risks and controls including follow-up on management action plans to bridge any gaps identified
- Develop methodologies to track metrics (KRIs/KPIs) on utilization of a risk and control register for each area of the business
- Support the Director of Ethics and Compliance regarding the preparation of reports to the Brightspeed Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors
- Assist with researching and benchmarking regulatory compliance programs, procedures, and practices in comparable industries to help ensure Brightspeed remains current with regard to its compliance programs
- Conduct compliance interviews and investigations into alleged violations of Brightspeed’s Corporate Code of Conduct or other Compliance Policies
- Stay up to date on changes in applicable laws and regulations as they apply to the business
- Provide guidance to employees and management on compliance issues and policy interpretations and collaborate with various departments to provide compliance-related support
- Develop detailed compliance audit/review schedules, to be updated on a quarterly basis, which are consistent with annual system risk matrix and plan
- Support compliance audit/review activity with internal and external auditors
- Support Brightspeed’s corporate compliance training and education programs, working collaboratively with HR and the Company’s Learning Management System and outside training vendor(s) to ensure the timely and effective completion of all corporate compliance and related training objectives
- Receive, document, and monitor reports of alleged noncompliance via the Ethics and Compliance Helpline, or by other various means, to final resolution
- Conduct compliance interviews and investigations into alleged violations of Brightspeed’s Corporate Code of Conduct or other Compliance Policies.

Qualifications
WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in a compliance, risk management, audit, or related field
- Law degree from an accredited law school and 5+ years of experience conducting investigations and/or in litigation is a plus
- Compliance related certifications (e.g., CRCM) strongly preferred
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of applicable ethics and compliance program requirements and best practices and methodologies, including developing policies and procedures, employee training and communication, risk assessments, and monitoring and testing activities
