About the role

Role Overview:
This position is responsible to safely supervise and coordinate activities of projects in Grading, Milling, Utilities, Asphalt Paving and Concrete Hardscape.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Over 2 years up to and including 4 years from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and job site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  2. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  3. Reports to Superintendent or Project Manager daily, especially when there are occurrences that can affect the successful completion of a project.
  4. Maintains and works with Superintendent on projects schedules to ensure that all materials have been ordered and will be delivered on time; all equipment, Knife River personnel and subcontractors have been scheduled.
  5. Ability to complete and prioritize multiple tasks at the same time.
  6. Ensure that crews are meeting project budgets daily.
  7. Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR regulation compliance.
  8. Ensure compliance with all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
  10. Work with crews, inspectors, and subcontractors to complete projects.
  11. Communicate paving crew needs with dispatch - Calculate number of trucks required to haul aggregate and/or hot mix asphalt according to capacity of vehicles, traffic conditions, distance from work site and productivity of drivers.
