Job Description

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion Assembly on a full-time basis.

The Role:

Seeking a creative, highly motivated, agile thinker that can perform at a high level in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing facility. This person shall be comfortable supporting manufacturing processes on the production floor. As a Customer Quality Engineer, you will be addressing customer issues alongside engineering, controls, manufacturing, and maintenance teams. A considerable amount of creativity and initiative will be involved, as well as a high level of independent judgement.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Developing Vehicle Program Quality Plans which include all metrics of Voice of Customer (VOC), Initial, Long Term and Design Quality.

  • Monitoring warranty to track progress and closure of emerging customer issues through common global process assessments, facilitating rapid containment of issues, installation of countermeasures and Leadership escalation, if required, to ensure Quality targets are achieved.

  • Managerial Courage to provide direct, transparent, constructive feedback to Plant Staff/Executive Leadership in a professional manner.

  • Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition, technical mentorship on sophisticated problems, and regular updates on progress.

  • Maintain updates to Quality Requirements and Cost of Quality reports by Plant.

  • Participate in CPIT meetings and drive JD Power and Warranty Improvement Initiatives.

  • Prepare program updates for product Development Quality Leadership

  • Support the tracking and reporting of various quality related performance metrics (IPPM, PPM, IPTV, CPV, etc..)

  • Act as plant representative during Program Engineering Team (PET) meetings

  • Audit elements of the GM Quality Manual and GMS Built-In Quality Statements through basketweaves

  • Ensure effective containment and resolution for identified non-conforming product.

  • Communicate emerging issues to various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support department scrap reduction initiatives.

  • Lead the consolidation of customer quality feedback and provide the organization external quality feedback.

  • Lead the overall problem assignment, resolution and verification process driving improvement in
    how customers’ experience our product.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3 years of manufacturing or quality experience

  • Ability work 2nd shift/rotating shift as needed

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years of experience)

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 3+ years of manufacturing or quality experience

  • Experience with RESS or battery EV

  • Red X certification
