JOB DUTIES
- MLT Student Support Specialist will work closely with the MLT faculty to support students in the instructional setting.
- Responsible for lab session preparation, implementing lab simulations, and providing services that contribute to student learning and student retention.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty in identifying needs and developing and implementing creative laboratory and simulation learning environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with MLT Faculty to setup each MLT course’s hands-on lab exercises.
- In collaboration with faculty, review and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with ordering.
- Act as the point person for troubleshooting technical issues surrounding lab/simulation equipment.
- Meet with MLT student’s one on one and/or in-group sessions to reinforce course content.
- Assist students in the development good test-taking strategies.
- Mentor students on career and academic advancement as a competent medical laboratory technician.
- Assist in preparing materials for accreditation reports, as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.
The position is part time, with hours varying between 8 – 24 hours per week.
Please note this position is grant funded and continued employment is subject to grant renewal.

Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Examples of duties
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification or five (5) years of equivalent work experience.
Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Successful grant-writing to support technology and equipment acquisitions a plus.
