TITLE: Senior Advisor, Storytelling
REPORTS TO: Director of Knowledge for Impact, and matrixed to Vice-President, Global Partnerships and Impact Division
DEPARTMENT: Knowledge for Impact Hub
LOCATION: Washington, DC, Boston, MA, or New York, NY

COORDINATES WITH:
All members of the Knowledge for Impact Hub and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team as well as staff in other departments in the Global Partnership and Impact Division; staff in other Oxfam America divisions to include—Resource Development Division, Public Engagement Division, and Alliances, Advocacy, and Policy Division; along with key stakeholders in other Oxfam Country and Regional Offices within the Oxfam Confederation.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Senior Advisor, Storytelling works with the Director of Knowledge for Impact and the Vice President of the Global Partnerships and Impact Division to develop narratives and stories as part of the strategic use of findings from our research, evaluation, and learning. The position will produce narratives and stories for board meetings and fundraising opportunities, among other strategic programmatic communications. The position will also work with various teams to create thematic narratives and signs of change stories grounded in qualitative and quantitative evidence on social and environmental contexts and on our programming to communicate our findings, achievements, and learning from our work to a myriad of types of public audiences. The position will be responsible for developing and co-developing the content for narratives and signs of change stories. Working with a team of colleagues with varied skillsets, the position will communicate narratives and signs of change stories in creative formats to convey compelling and inspiring messages.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Storytelling with Evidence Development (50%):
- Write and co-write thematic narratives and signs of change stories.
- Lead creative sessions to design narratives and stories into various inspirational and compelling formats.
- Contribute to effort to implement the concept of “measurable hope” in our storytelling and programmatic communications.
- Gather and select qualitative and quantitative data and evidence on social context and from our programming in countries for narrative and story development.
- Work with VP of Global Partnership and Impact Division, Director of Knowledge from Impact Hub, and teams to select themes and issues for developing strategic level narratives and storytelling.
Project Management (20%):
- Co-lead the Outcomes, Results, Changes, and Storytelling (ORCAS) Working Group.
- Co-lead the Communications for Impact Working Group.
- Oversee production of narratives and signs of change stories and production into various formats to ensure completion.
Communications (30%):
- Support brand development through narrative and signs of change stories production, including generating communications collateral (video, infographics, design, templates).
- Develop, collect, and/or publish content to increase external visibility of team initiatives.
- Work with teams to develop dissemination plans in storytelling with external audiences; coordinate with colleagues in Public Engagement & Programs to facilitate production of external communications products.
