Senior Technical Project Manager

Overview

JST is currently seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to support our team within a government environment. The Senior Technical Project Manager will oversee and manage complex IT projects. The Sr Technical Project Manager will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in IT systems, and a proven record of accomplishment of delivering projects within scope, and on time. This role requires a deep understanding of DoD (Department of Defense) project management frameworks and compliance requirements.

Sr Technical PM Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the execution of multiple concurrent IT projects government, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support AFWERX mission objectives.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, schedules, risk management plans, and status reports.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, analysts, and testers, to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Monitor project progress and performance metrics, identifying and mitigating risks and issues to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
• Communicate project status, issues, and risks to senior management and stakeholders through regular status meetings and reports.
• Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, security protocols, and other relevant standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct post-project reviews and create comprehensive lessons learned reports to improve future project execution.
• Report any security incidents or breaches to the appropriate authorities.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be available to travel up to 4 times a year.

 

Sr Technical PM Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, but relevant experienced considered.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience managing IT projects, preferably within the Department of Defense or similar government agencies.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple concurrent projects with varying priorities and deadlines.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and their application in IT project environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in risk management, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
• Knowledge of DoD regulations, security protocols, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, or equivalent.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with DoD acquisition processes and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with ITIL framework for IT service management.
• Experience with cybersecurity principles and practices in a government or military setting.
• Smartsheet, Salesforce, Google Workspace experience

Required Clearances and Screenings

• MUST be able to pass a US Government Security Clearance
• MUST have an active secret clearance or be able to obtain one
