Agentic Finance is a new business within Airwallex, built for a post-SaaS world. We're creating an AI CFO for startups: intelligent software that can autonomously manage everything from incorporation and account setup to bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial analysis. We’re assembling a small, ambitious team to make this real — and design will be at the heart of it.

The Role
We're hiring our Founding Product Designer to help invent the next generation of financial software: AI-native, autonomous, and radically user-centric. You’ll partner closely with engineering and product leadership to go from zero to one: from strategic concepts and interaction design to high-fidelity execution.

As our first designer, you’ll shape not just the product, but the design culture, principles, and direction of Agentic Finance.

What You’ll Do

• Define and drive the product design vision — from the first sketch to live product

• Invent new interaction paradigms for a world where AI agents do the work, and humans supervise and steer

• Work hand-in-hand with product and engineering to rapidly explore, prototype, and iterate

• Balance broad strategic thinking with hands-on execution in Figma

• Translate complex financial workflows into elegant, approachable experiences

• Contribute to product strategy, roadmap, and customer validation
  

Who You Are

• A true 0→1 designer: You’ve built products from scratch and thrive in ambiguity

• Strong on the tools: You can independently own end-to-end design work — from early concepts through to polished UI and developer handoff

• Technically minded: You’re energized by working with AI, automation, or complex systems — and can think through both capabilities and limitations

• Deeply collaborative: You love working side by side with engineers and product leads to figure things out

• Customer obsessed: You design with clarity and care for non-expert users, and you know how to validate and refine your ideas with real feedback

• Startup-ready: You’re comfortable moving fast, wearing many hats, and making trade-offs

• Experience: Minimum 6 years as a UX/Product designer with expertise in desktop web, mobile web, and native app experiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing for AI-native or workflow automation products
  Background in fintech, finance operations, or tools for startups

• Systems thinking applied to agentic or multi-step user journeys

Location Requirement
This role is in-person in San Francisco (3 days per week). We believe that working shoulder-to-shoulder in the same space is essential for the speed, creativity, and trust-building required at this early stage.
