Education & Qualifications:
- Certifications in food safety and sanitation, such as ServSafe or Safe Food Handling
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Physical Stamina and Endurance-ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a hot and demanding kitchen environment
- Desirable - Culinary School or Vocational Training
Experience:
- Kitchen Experience: Previous experience working in a kitchen setting is highly beneficial for line cooks. This may include positions such as prep cook, dishwasher, kitchen assistant, or other entry-level kitchen roles.
- Desirable - Previous experience in a high volume restaurant.
Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Dishwashers need to ensure that dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Attention to detail is crucial to spot and remove any food residue or stains.
- Time Management: Dishwashers often work in fast-paced environments where they need to manage their time efficiently to keep up with the flow of dirty dishes and utensils.
- Knowledge of Safety Procedures: Dishwashers should be familiar with safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. This includes proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Technological Proficiency
- Use of Dishwashing Equipment: Dishwashers should be proficient in operating various types of dishwashing equipment, including commercial dishwashers, conveyor belts, and pot washers.
- Desirable - Understanding of Chemicals and Cleaning Agents: Many dishwashing machines require the use of specialized cleaning chemicals and detergents. Dishwashers should have knowledge of how to properly handle and mix these chemicals.
