Background 

 

We are recruiting for a temporary experienced Senior Finance Administrator to support the Central Finance Operations team in a thriving and friendly organisation. You will be reporting initially to the Finance Manager working directly with the Grants & Payroll Administration team (currently three people) within a wider team of ten people.  The role will be varied and requires a strong, experienced, highly organised Finance administrator with experience working in a busy, control and customer service focussed environment.  The role will primarily focus on payroll activities with an element of grant support.  Accuracy, attention to detail, and a very strong working knowledge of completing reconciliations and excellent excel skills are key to this role. Full training provided. Note. Flexible working options are currently in place. 

 

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

Support the end-to-end processing and payments of fortnightly Payroll and deductions for staff and
pensioners (approx. 300+ staff currently). Note, at present payroll calculations are completed via excel. An excellent working knowledge of excel is essential.  

Responsible for ensuring all payroll inputs are accurate & completed on time
Monitor payroll inbox, action & investigate in a timely manner
Complete necessary reconciliations and returns such as Pension and CSO in line with deadlines 
Support the month-end process as required 
Supporting/driving compliance and adherence to the policies set down by Revenue and Government Bodies 
and supporting a strong compliance culture by ensuring robust internal controls and audit standards are achieved and maintained  

Providing inputs relating to Payroll for cash flow forecasting of payments 
Key point of contact for the Department of Transport, C&AG, internal and external stakeholders including
HR, Revenue and external service providers providing efficient & effective support where required 

Support the grant administration process.  
Support Internal and External audits as required and provide support for the preparation of annual Financial
Statements

Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to build rapport and embed seamlessly into the team 
Be an effective communicator who is persuasive, encouraging and motivating 
A ‘can-do’ and flexible approach with the ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines. 
Strong MS office skills with an excellent working knowledge of excel 
Proficiency in all aspects of PAYE Revenue reporting, to include RPN processes, Payroll, and other payroll
submissions  
Analytical and problem-solving skills 


Essential criteria

 

Certificate or Diploma in relevant business area 
Have at least 5 years recent payroll experience in non-systemised payroll environments
IPASS qualification (recent).
