**90 Day intro period on site & remote thereafter**
** Hours are Monday through Friday. No Weekends**
The Medical Coder position is responsible for assigning appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes to inpatient and outpatient hospital services. The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with providers and other staff members regarding coding requirements.
Essential Job Functions/Competencies
Clinical Care
1. Review provider documentation for coding appropriateness and accuracy using ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes
2. Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations
3. Knowledge and use of required modifiers
4. Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
5. Review and analyze medical records to complete accurate code selection
6. Maintain communication with Management and Providers to ensure timely notification of identified documentation issues
7. Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for clinic visits and surgical procedures
8. Interact with other team members to assist with inquiries regarding coding, documentation, denials and billing
9. Ensure that all codes are current and active

Requirements
Certifications, Licensures or Registry Requirements
· Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC or (CCS) through AHIMA required
· Highly effective written and verbal communication skills· Knowledge of legal, regulatory and policy compliance issues regarding medical coding/ billing and documentation
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
· Proficient at organizational and presentation skills.
Educational Requirements
· High school degree required.
· Graduate of an accredited coding program required.
Experience Requirement
· 2-3 years current coding experience
· Urology/Radiation Oncology preferred
