SUMMARY:

A part-time, spring season appointment. On/off-campus responsibilities from 4:05 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Coaching responsibilities may result in extended weekday commitments for games. All coaches are employed on an annual basis and continued employment is based on performance reviews conducted by the Head of Athletics & Physical Education and the Assistant Head of Athletics & Physical Education.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working closely with the Head Track & Field coach, the Track & Field coach is responsible for supporting various aspects of the Upper School Track & Field program, such as program development, training, and coaching team members. Coaches with Throws, Pole Vault,  Sprints/Relays experience needed. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Greenhill School. Greenhill School is a member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Greenhill School;
  • A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept;
  • Coaching experience;
  • Effective leadership, coaching and recruiting skills;
  • Good communication skills with players, parents, and the athletic department;
  • A valid driver’s license (so that you can drive your team to away games).


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Encourage, train, and coach the participants of the Upper School Track & Field program (Grades 9-12)
  • Collaborate with the Varsity Track & Field coach as needed;
  • Organize practice sessions;
  • Represent Greenhill School and the Track & Field program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship.
  • Ability to plan effectively for instructions and maintains an environment for effective learning;
  • Leadership skills and the ability to motivate students;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleague, students, and parents;
  • Willingness to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth;
  • Creative strategies for motivating students of all ability levels;
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and be a part of a team process;
  • Willingness to promote positive school/community relations;
  • Enthusiasm, optimism, punctuality, dependability, and flexibility;
  • First-aid/CPR/AED certifications.


This is a part-time, exempt position that is paid a coaching stipend over the duration of the season.
