About the role

Hennepin County District Court Criminal Traffic Violations Bureau is seeking a customer service focused, team-oriented Court Operations Associate to contribute to our mission of providing justice to the public. This is a diverse, inclusive, dynamic professional work environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court customers. 

This position assists the general public, external agencies, the Hearing Office, attorneys, judges, law enforcement, and other staff by providing and explaining court rules and procedures. Duties include all aspects of citation processing, payments, and limited criminal case processing. Work includes performing a variety of general clerical tasks which follow well-established, standardized data entry methods and procedures. 

Example of Duties 

  • Process a large number of payments such as cash bail, maintaining daily financial drawers 

  • Remain courteous and uphold high professional standards while assisting a high-volume of court customers daily. Customers may be in person at the counter or the Hearing Office, or communicating via phone or through electronic means 

  • Coordinate, communicate, and collaborate with team members to ensure daily work assignments and case processing are completed efficiently and accurately 

  • Schedule calendar hearings, continuances, and other matters 

  • Prepare and send out notices, orders, motions, and other documents requiring a detailed knowledge of applicable terminology, rules, and procedures 

  • Receive, enter, and process court papers, documents, and traffic citations into the court’s case processing system  

  • Answer general questions and assist court customers and partners as they navigate through the criminal court process 

 

Typical Qualifications 

Minimum Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • One (1) year of relevant job experience OR equivalent amount of post-high school education and experience totaling one year.

    • Examples of relevant job experience: customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work.
