IU Health has an outstanding opportunity available for a Clinical Nurse Specialist at West Hospital and North Hospital. This CNS will support Women’s Services, specifically Maternity care within the Indy Suburban Region. A major focus will be on improving quality outcomes for both mom and baby.  This position will be instrumental in the achievement of Levels of Care, AIM and InSpire designations, and will work closely with physicians and nursing both at the regional level and the system level. 

This position will have responsibilities at both West and North Hospital and will align and spread best practices, so flexibility with traveling between the two hospitals is required.

A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a Masters prepared Advance Practice Registered Nurse whose function is to improve outcomes in patient care. Functioning in five sub roles including: Expert in Clinical Practice, Educator, Leader, Researcher and Consultant, who positively influence the three spheres of practice: Patient Care, Nursing, and Systems in their respective specialties.

• Bachelors Degree of Nursing (BSN) required.
• Master in nursing as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) required.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license and meets regulatory requirements to practice as a CNS.
• Requires 3-5 years of advanced clinical skills typically gained through nursing experience.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
