About this role

In this role, reporting to the Head of Tax, you will assume responsibility for Faire’s global income tax reporting and compliance function to ensure timely and accurate compliance with Faire’s global tax reporting and filing obligations. 

This is an ideal role for someone who can operate as a high-impact individual contributor, managing and collaborating with external service providers to manage Faire’s reporting and compliance obligations and teaming with the business to provide insights into the tax reporting implications of proposed business initiatives or global tax changes. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership and mentoring capabilities that will allow them to build a team as Faire’s global footprint expands.  This is not a remote role.

What you’ll do 

Reporting to the Head of Tax, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for domestic and international income tax reporting and compliance

Assume primary responsibility for the quarterly and annual consolidated income tax provision and financial reporting under U.S. GAAP ensuring completeness and accuracy

Working with internal and external partners, oversee and manage all aspects of outsourced U.S. federal, state and local income and indirect tax filings and audits and international income tax filings

Scale the income tax reporting and compliance functions to meet the company’s growing needs, including designing and implementing best in class internal and external reporting and compliance processes, further automation of existing tax processes, further development of the internal control framework in tandem with cross functional partners, and analysis of tax consequences of non-standard transactions and business initiatives

Monitor the tax landscape and assist with the ongoing analysis and evaluation of tax positions

Model the prospective expected financial impact of various tax laws, proposals, and positions to provide a framework for identifying solutions to mitigate potential issues

Assist with the establishment or refinement of internal controls to identify and address potential tax burdens and risks, including independently analyzing the sustainability of positions taken

Influence and collaborate with key cross-functional partners and leadership in Accounting, Finance, Legal and Business teams

Qualifications

8+ years of relevant experience at a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department of a multinational public company

A self-starter with a high degree of integrity comfortable operating as an individual contributor with support from external partners 

Extensive experience in financial reporting, design and operation of internal controls, domestic tax compliance and audits

Experience operating in a muti-national tax environment; familiarity with OECD and U.S. transfer pricing concepts and principles and experience implementing and monitoring robust policies 

Familiarity with key U.S. international tax issues including GILTI, BEAT and FDII 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at communicating complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals and steering the implementation of complex, multi stakeholder initiatives

Proven ability managing internal and external stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional business partners

A leader who can build, manage, and mentor a best in class tax reporting and compliance function, capable of operating in a fast-paced environment, through empathetic leadership and coaching

Experience working with platforms/complex marketplaces, provision software and familiarity with ERP systems a plus

Salary Range

California: the pay range for this role is $176,000 to $242,000
