This Opportunity

 

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Building Structural Engineer for our New York City, New York office location. Be involved in projects with our Buildings Structures Division and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Provides high level QA/QC DD  and CD level technical document review prior to document issuance. Documents to be reviewed will entail steel and concrete design documents prior to issue. Review is primary for quality, clarity, organization, completeness, compliance with office standards, typical details, & QA/QC manual which outlines review specifics and each stage.  The reviewer must have a minimum of 7 years of design experience in a variety of steel and concrete structures. 

This is a part time position, targeting 24 hours per week.

 

Your Impact
  • Familiarity required in developing construction plans, specifications, and applicable codes that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Coordinate, review, and approve building and infrastructure design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Remain current with the latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience. 
  • Engineer license preferred
  • Proficient with structural engineering principles, practices, processes, and the application to project work-related issues. 
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations. 
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired

Expected Salary: $54.81/hour- $74.00/hour
