The primary responsibility of the Financial Aid Coordinator – State & University Programs is to coordinate the awarding, reconciliation, and monitoring of over $14 million in university and state scholarship/grant programs. This position will handle day to day operation of all matters relating to university scholarship programs/awards, monitoring of academic progress for scholarship renewal, administrative reporting to Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation for state programs, and compliance with state and institutional policies. The Financial Aid Coordinator will use various types of technology to create necessary reports to balance, reconcile and award university and state scholarships accurately. This position will act as the liaison between UTC Financial Aid and departments on campus for all matters related to scholarships and as the liaison between UTC and the state for matters related to assigned state scholarships/programs. The Financial Aid Coordinator will keep up to date with the latest state regulations and advise students and parents about all financial aid possibilities and awards other state-related aid.
Counsel students/parents regarding their financial aid status as related to university & state programs; oversee university scholarship programs including but not limited to first-time freshmen renewable scholarships; assist the responsible parties within departments on campus to award scholarships assigned to their area; oversee all intermediate state programs through the TN Student Assistance Corp, including but not limited to the, TN HOPE Foster Child Grant, TN Dependent Child Tuition Grant, TN Vocational Rehab, Helping Heroes Grant, Graduate Nursing Loan Forgiveness Program, Math Science Teacher Program, Minority Teaching Fellows Program, Tennessee Teaching Scholars Program, and Rural Health Loan Program.
Responsible for the end of term/year review of all renewable scholarships awarded in conjunction with UTC Admissions as well as endowed scholarships assigned to Financial Aid; responsible for the certification and reconciliation of all minor state program awards with Tennessee Student Assistance Corp (programs mentioned above); provide on /off campus presentations to high school, civic clubs, etc. concerning financial aid opportunities and processes; conduct staff and student training on State Programs and maintain HOPE/Scholarship portions of departmental website.

- Effective customer service and interpersonal skills
- Superior organizational and problem resolution skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Basic computer software skills including MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively with scholarship recipients, staff, faculty, and the state as needed in a professional manner
- Knowledge of TN state programs

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a Student Financial Aid Office, experience with scholarship programs, experience using Banner.
