About AT&T's Wireline Transformation and Supply Chain (WTSC) Strategy Team: AT&T’s WTSC Strategy Team focuses on collaborative problem-solving, strategic analysis, and analytical support to directly impact billions of dollars of AT&T’s cost structure and future investments, while driving best-in-class practices across AT&T’s vast supply chain and wireline networks.
Role and Responsibilities of Senior Strategy Consultants: As a member of the Wireline Transformation and Supply Chain (WTSC) Strategy team, you will utilize your analytical abilities in complex financial analysis to provide insightful and actionable recommendations to the leaders of AT&T’s WTSC Organization. You’ll have the opportunity to help WTSC effectively manage our financial risk exposure (of billions of dollars’ worth of annual spend) throughout our wide-ranging portfolio of suppliers and carriers, and utilize your financial acumen to support strategic insights.
The individual hired for this position will play a key role in financial risk management for the WTSC organization, by taking ownership of three critical, ongoing initiatives:
Performing complex, highly detailed analysis to assess current and future financial health of AT&T’s strategic suppliers
- Analyze financial results and historical trends from companies’ financial statements to derive actionable insights
- Proactively analyze trends and anomalies, research issues, and respond to inquiries
- Build financial forecast models and conduct scenario analysis to consider potential impact on internal clients and overall business continuity, answer other immediate business questions, and support critical WTSC decision-making processes
Monitoring strategic suppliers’ quarterly results to communicate to executive audiences throughout AT&T
- Monitor quarterly earnings results/developments of AT&T’s top suppliers and carriers
- Prepare written earnings briefings to be distributed to executive audiences across WTSC and other parts of AT&T in an accurate and timely manner
Assisting with WTSC strategy projects and fact-based negotiation support
- Understand and recognize subtleties of complex problems, and develop innovative solutions driven or supported by data
- Assist internal clients to implement innovative solutions and best practices throughout AT&T’s sourcing processes
- Work in teams and across functional groups that vary from fundamentally technical to non-technical
- In addition, the position will also serve as the risk management team representative by providing ad-hoc project support and occasionally work on designated projects focused on overall process improvements. The position will also help support the executive briefing process, that works to inform and prepare our executives for meetings with various suppliers & carriers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related majors
- At least 4-5 years of financial/analytical experience
- Strong understanding of financial statements (i.e., balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows), SEC filings, U.S. and international accounting standards
- Strong analytical skills in interpretations of data
- Modeling: Ability to work with multiple sources of financial data, integrating fact-bases and assumptions to develop complex financial models
- Technical: Advanced experience working with Microsoft Excel (VBA preferred; ability with pivot tables, arrays, and nested-formulas strongly desired) and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills
- Demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering against tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to tie financial details and knowledge to broader strategic themes
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA preferred, or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or other related majors
- Background in investment banking, equity research, commodities trading, or another highly analytical role in the financial industry preferred
- Background in telecommunications or high-technology verticals highly desirable
