The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) engages families for success. Its Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) manages nearly 246,000 cases to ensure that child support payments of $598 million per year reach families across the Commonwealth. Support Enforcement Specialists establish and sustain helping relationships with parents who have payment obligations as well as parents who depend on those payments.

Fiscal Technician Senior serves as a lead fiscal agent for child support cases, engaging families for success so that they have the financial and family support they need to grow and thrive. Researches documentation and verifies calculations and balances of financial accounts to support actions by case management staff (establishment, court, review/adjustment and enforcement). Completes timely and accurate receipt, deposit and disbursements of payments, communicating directly with clients and employers as needed

Fiscal Technician Senior will provide direct support to the Division of Child Support Enforcement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping principles and/or practices.
• Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to independently research cases to resolve moderately difficult problems
• Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures
• Ability to analyze legal and financial data and reports
• Ability to perform mathematical computations and reconciliation of financial data
• Ability to work with a diverse audience to communicate effectively orally and in writing with general public.
• Skill in conflict resolution.
• Skill in keyboarding, use of calculators, a personal computer, spreadsheet and word processing applications (Microsoft Word and Excel), and automated information/financial systems.
