The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule in either our Detroit, MI, Charlotte, NC or Lewisville, TX office , in office with some remote work.
The Senior Counsel will serve as a legal advisor for the firm’s automotive financial consumer servicing business, leveraging some expertise in consumer finance, automotive lending, and regulatory compliance. This role will provide strategic counsel on routine and complex transactions, regulatory matters, and risk management.
The Work Itself
- Serve as lead legal advisor on matters related to the servicing of automotive consumer retail installment sales contracts, direct loans, and leases, including repossession, collections, certificate of title, complaint handling, military lending, seizure impound and fraud matters, and eligibility of aftermarket products refunds.
- Oversee compliance with federal and state consumer protection laws and regulations (e.g., TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, UCC, CFPB guidance), and advise on regulatory developments.
- Develop, implement, and enhance policies and procedures in partnership with compliance, risk, and business teams.
