Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in the Duke Central Carolina Surgery Clinic located in Greensboro, NC to work in collaboration with attending physicians, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services to high risk surgical oncology patients. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess benign breast disease and breast infections
- Manage long term care of some breast cancer patients
- Perform preop and postop assessments of patients undergoing surgery
- Perform in office procedures such as aspiration, incision and drainage, punch biopsy
- Manage patients in high risk clinic
- Follow patients with elevated risk
- Assess for possibility of genetic testing, counsel and perform
- Determine risk for individuals and personalized surveillance plans
- Counsel women on risk reduction
- Chemoprevention follow up
- Survivorship
- Cancer surveillance
- Long term issues with PT, lymphedema, nutrition, etc
- First assist breast surgeon in the operating room- this is negotiable and not mandatory
- Work with breast surgeon in the office
Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
Certification
- BLS required.
License
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
- Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Experience
Prefer candidates with oncology APP experience or new graduate candidates who have completed an oncology clinical rotation or have RN oncology experience.
