Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The EVS Patient Flow Coordinator is responsible for optimizing patient flow by accurate and efficient management of the Environmental Services Epic Logistic Monitor Board. The EVS Patient Flow Coordinator monitors activity on the Environmental Services Epic Logistics Monitor Board and assigns EVS resources needed to maintain efficient operations and optimize patient flow. This position works closely with EVS Supervisors, Patient Placement, Transportation, and unit Leaders to coordinate EVS resources related to patient admissions and discharges to maintain throughput and bed availability. The EVS Patient Flow Coordinator anticipates and monitors for potential bed clean turnaround issues and intervening proactively to prevent delays in patient care.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

• Optimize patient flow by managing the Environmental Services Logistics Monitor Board and assigns and re-assigns/revise tasks and resources as needed in conjunction with the EVS supervisor
• Attend the daily EVS bed huddle so that you are knowledgeable of all pertinent information, i.e. (staffing situation, special request, projects that may interfere with turnaround time)
• Continuously monitors and improves departmental performance through timely dispatching of Patient Placement requests and personnel activity status
• Identify the following and escalate to EVS manager when no EVS tech in sector, prolonged response/clean times are outside of protocols.
• Escalates/prioritizes changes in bed status in conjunction with Patient Placement Coordinators
• Anticipate potential bed clean turnaround issues and intervene to maintain efficient operations
• Serve as a point of contact for problem resolution
• Ensures staff availability (beginning, end, breaks, lunch).
• Resolves problems related to patient, visitor, staff, or employee complaints associated with departmental issues
• Recommends and participates in the solution of ongoing problems or trends
• Continuously monitors response times and associate productivity
• Identifies problems and/or trends, conducts research, resolves or makes recommendations to direct reports

 

ASSOCIATED JOB DUTIES:

 

• Performs other job duties as assigned
• Demonstrates effective communication skills in working with staff, nursing, and the EVS leadership team
• Assist Environmental Service team with walking the patient floors identifying unoccupied clean/dirty patient rooms during system outage
• Provide a detailed end of shift report to the EVS leadership team

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

• High School diploma or eqivalent
• Three years of Environmental supervisor experience

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Assigning and revising tasks as needed
• Serving as a point of contact for problem resolution
• Must posse strong customer service skills
• Must possess the ability to work well under pressure
• Must possess the ability to multitask with good results
• Computer literacy, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and Proficient use of Epic is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, multitask effectively, time management, and meet deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively with both clinical and non-clinical personnel.
• to perform tasks independently, seek direction as needed, and prioritizes workload
• Flexible, willing to adjust schedule, work weekends if needed
