Novelis – Guthrie, KY we are seeking a WWT/Process Operations Technician with a desire to combine their skills with our capabilities to contribute to our continued success!
Normal Work Schedule
While shift schedules will vary, Operations Technicians on-shift will work rotating 12-hour shifts throughout the month and paid overtime will be required when needed.
Responsibilities:
· Complete work in a safe, timely and professional manner.
· Recognize and mitigate safety risk in all aspects of job and communicate effectively to others about risk and exposures.
· Monitor instrumentation and control devices.
· Make product and process decisions based on graphical and statistical analysis.
· Practice good housekeeping.
· Work on assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
· Learn and grow in a team environment.
· Use email to communicate effectively across departments and locations.
· Give and receive feedback openly, honestly, and respectfully.
· Comprehensive knowledge of all Wastewater/Process processes (reasons for chemical additions, regenerations, ROs, etc.)
· Ability to troubleshoot abnormal upset conditions.
· Develop projects to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
· Communicate issues to EHS, operations, engineering, process, and maintenance teams.
· Implement and verify proper EH&S conditions for the Wastewater/Process.
· Implement and validate preventative maintenance systems for the wastewater systems and process.
· Responsible for day-to-day operations (RO CIP, Clean filter press, etc.)
· Check in with on shift operators during production for issues and concerns.
· Develop and validate sampling strategies for wastewater processes.
· Understand auxiliary systems that are impacted and impact wastewater processes (Chem section, Quench, City, etc.)
· Maintain chemical laboratory equipment.
· Be responsible for the maintenance of the area:
o Perform basic mechanical maintenance duties such as pumps rebuild, piping repairs (no welding required), valve repairs/replacement, gasket replacements, pump skids cleaning, heat exchangers and filters cleaning.
o Perform PM plans such as lubrications, inspections, and cleaning.
o Support the Maintenance Team for extended breakdowns or troubleshooting.
o Some of these tasks will require operating overhead maintenance crane applying rigging fundamentals.
· Submit work notifications as needed.
· Ability to do jar testing and troubleshoot/ drive resolutions from the results.
· Tote inventory management and communication with process team of levels.
· Ability to view IBA and understand operational indicators.
Qualifications:
· Completed High School or have a GED. Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
· Have a proven foundation and value for safety. Our priority is ensuring all our employees get home safe every day.
· Have a minimum four years of work history/experience (Wastewater Systems preferred)
· Have the ability and desire to work in and participate in a team environment.
· Can demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Have good written and verbal communication skills.
· Have working knowledge of software applications, email, etc.
Functional Capacity Requirements:
· Working in heat >80° and cold < 60°
· Lifting to 50 lbs. occasionally.
· Climbing stairs and ladders.
· Bending, twisting, kneeling, sometimes in close quarters.
· Flexibility to work 12-hours shifts in a 24/7 environment.
· Must meet minimum requirements for overhead crane/mobile equipment operation including annual physical and vision exams.
